Plant-based Restaurants: Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Singapore

Our favourite plant-based restaurants for those meat-free days

It must be good news for the plant-based individuals or vegetarians since the meat-free diet is becoming increasingly popular over the last few years. We noticed lots of plant-based restaurants popping up on our island and we are loving this trend! It not only allows us to have more access to healthier and more sustainable choices, it has also made us realise that plant-based food can be really tasty as well, if you choose the right ones!

Whether you are a vegetarian, or trying to go meat-free that one or two times a week or even trying out a vegetarian restaurant for the first time, we have some of the best ones in this article just for you!

If you are into the traditional Singapore-style tze-char or if you’re bringing your parents to try out plant-based dishes, Whole Earth is the place to go! They use the freshest ingredients, prepare them with care to deliver consistent and awesome quality food to their customers.

A must-order from Whole Earth would be their traditional Teochew-style Olive Rice. It’s on almost every table and definitely hits your palate with all the right earthy notes. Everyone’s gonna love that dish! Another dish that we’d recommend is the Handmade Yam Treasure Yam Ring. The middle of the yam ring is filled with hearty ingredients like lily bulbs, capsicum, celery and more! So hearty, and so good!

Sufood was founded in 2010, under one of the largest F&B operator (WOWPRIME GROUP) in Taiwan. They are one of the more famous Vegetarian Chain in Taiwan, with a menu that consists of really nutrient-dense and nourishing dishes. They encourage mindful eating as nutrition forms the foundation of our body, and that eating right is the best for the mind and soul.

Aside from the ala-carte dishes, they also have a menu with a 4-8 course set. The 4 course menu consists of a selection of an appetiser, salad, soup and mains. The 6 and 8 course sets comes with a dessert of your choice as well. If you think their menu is pretty insane and don’t know what to choose, get their flagship dish – Star Pizza with Cream Cheese & Wasabi Tomato Sauce. It’s basically a pizza with a cream cheese-filled crust and topped with a generous sprinkle of seaweed. It’s definitely something new for the tastebuds, but I promise that it will be a pleasant surprise.

The Living Cafe

Since their founding in 2011, they had been serving the residents of Bukit Timah really well with their deliciously raw, plant-based nutritious food. However, they are not a full-fledged vegan or vegetarian cafe because they still offer a small amount of white meat on their menu.

But of course, the star of the restaurant is totally their wholesome and nourishing plant-based cuisines. Most people might be unfamiliar with raw food but I’d totally encourage you to give the raw Pad Thai Noodles a try! The noodles are made with zucchini, then tossed in a really appetising creamy Pad Thai sauce. If you’re looking for something even lighter, check out their Veggie Nori Roll. This is a really nutrient-dense dish packed full of raw vegetables, and drizzled with a nutritious cashew mayo, balsamic dressing and red pepper sauce.

We got attract by the Silk Lasagna with Broccoli Riso and Cashew Nut Sand – literally layers and layers of goodness! For the dessert, get the Layers of Red Bean and Yam with Rose Glass. There aren’t a lot of restaurants following the Farm-to-Table concept in Singapore due to our lack of natural resources but Afterglow by Anglow manged to do it! This vegan restaurant started in 2013 and they are here to not only make great vegan food, but also aims to educate our generation into the concept of sustainable vegan cuisine.

If you are up for a wholesome and huge salad, get their Israeli Autumn – inspired by their love for Middle Eastern Meze, they included falafels, lots of seasonal vegetables and a dressing made of avocado, sunflower seeds, dill, olive oil and white wine vinegar into this salad. Warning: this is going to give your palate a flavour explosion.

If you are ordering as a group, make sure to get the sharing dip platter. Choose from the Raw Guacamole or Hummus (or get both at $26!) and they’ll be served with crispy dehydrated crackers, raw carrot and jicama fries.
