Founded in 2006 by Munich bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck, The Bitter Truth has been instrumental in reviving the art of cocktail bitters. The idea for the brand emerged from the lack of high-quality bitters available in Germany, and Berg's extensive collection of historical and current bitters provided a unique foundation for their venture.
Their debut products—Orange Bitters and Old Time Aromatic Bitters—were launched in August 2006, quickly followed by Lemon Bitters. The Bitter Truth now boasts an impressive range of flavors, including Jerry Thomas, Creole, Celery, Grapefruit, and Chocolate Bitters, among others. They also offer a selection of liqueurs and flavored spirits like Apricot and Elderflower Liqueur.
The Bitter Truth's Celery Bitters won "Best New Product" at Tales of the Cocktail 2010, cementing their reputation in the industry. Their commitment to quality and innovation has earned them numerous awards, reinforcing their role in elevating the bitters category in modern cocktails.
