The barrel-aged RAUT Lagrein Alto Adige from the Trentino-Alto Adige wine-growing region is a bright purple-red in the glass. This single-varietal Italian wine flatters the glass with wonderfully expressive notes of plums, morello cherries, lavender and lilacs. There are also hints of sun-warmed stone, vanilla and forest floor. This dry red wine from Peter Zemmer is ideal for wine drinkers who like it absolutely dry. The RAUT Lagrein Alto Adige comes very close to this, as it was vinified with just 3 grams of residual sugar. This velvety red wine is balanced and complex on the palate. Thanks to its balanced fruit acidity, RAUT Lagrein Alto Adige flatters the palate with a soft sensation without lacking freshness. The finish of this red wine from the Trentino-Alto Adige wine-growing region, or more precisely from Alto Adige/Südtirol DOC, ultimately delights with a remarkable aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the limestone-dominated soils.

How It Was Made:

The balanced RAUT Lagrein Alto Adige from Italy is a single-varietal wine made from the Lagrein grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Trentino-Alto Adige. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into limestone soils. After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks, small wood and large wood at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the RAUT Lagrein Alto Adige is aged for several months in oak barriques.
