Pato planted Valadas in 2004 in Ois, 7km south east of Quinta do Ribeirinho.  It’s where he lives now and where his wife inherited vineyards on chalky clay soils – ying and yang!  Valadas is a tiny 0.4ha high density (8,600 vines/ha) parcel of Baga.  Finer framed with silky tannins, inky florals, a hint of iodine/smoke and sluiced red cherry and berry fruit.  Lovely translucency, minerality and frame makes for polished gem with a strong sense of personality.
