Aberlour 16 ans Sherry Hogshead Conquete

Succeeding the magnificent Aberlour 18 Year Old 2002 from our 2021 Creation Catalogue was not easy. By choosing to follow his instincts, this version perfectly rose to the challenge presented to him. With an absolute freedom of tone and preferring suggestion to affirmation, it lets the taster venture as he sees fit into the meanders of an aromatic and gustatory palette that is constantly growing in power. Stunning. Captivating and persistent. Roasted notes, red fruits and tobacco.
Profile:
Nose: both fresh and heady. Superb alternation of floral sequences (linden, tuberose, rose), fruity (plum, quince, mirabelle plum), vegetal (clover, bay leaf), spicy (cinnamon, ginger) or even chocolate and liquorice, the first nose is exceptionally complex and deep. . Allowed to breathe, bourbon vanilla, toasted walnuts and candied oranges enrich a nuanced and constantly changing aromatic palette. Appearance: Topaze Palate: Straight, firm. Roasted (coffee), floral (lily), fruity (gooseberry), spicy (star anise), powdery (cocoa) and herbaceous (pipe tobacco), the attack on the palate is particularly concentrated. In the mid-palate, notes of prune, gingerbread and raisined grapes provide even more consistency to the taste palette. Over time, grains of malted barley gradually come to the fore. Overall: long, silky. Remarkably balanced, the start of the finish is refreshed by citrus fruits (mandarin, clementine, kumquat). Then, layer after layer, we discover vanilla pods, scents of succulent plants, essential oils (rosemary, savory), cocoa beans, spices (cumin, star anise), dates… In retro-olfaction, notes of cedar underline the quality of a perfectly integrated woodiness. The empty glass is heady (iris) and spicy (clove).
