The nose reveals berries, dog rose, toasted walnuts and earthy tones. It is a full-bodied reserve, with a direct style and clear contours. The wine shows a hint of sweetness on the finish, supported by a fresh acidity.
The Castelvecchi winery stands right in front of the village of Volpaia, a medieval village that has remained intact for centuries.
The vineyards of Castelvecchi and Collepetroso are located at 530 meters above sea level. The soils are composed of galestro and sandstone. Freshness and purity are the characteristics that distinguish the wines of this award-winning winery in Radda in Chianti.

How It Was Made:
Vintage: The vintage begins with a cold winter characterized by some intense snowfalls while the spring is long and balanced. From the second half of May the temperatures rise and remain until the end of the harvest. During this period there are some mild disturbances, capable of maintaining the balance of the plant activity. The grapes are harvested and selected by hand from the best Castelvecchi vineyards, from Sangiovese plants obtained from the reproduction of vines of ancient origin. A unique terroir in the world for microclimate and soil characteristics, located at 400-600 m above sea level.
The vintage favored a well-balanced harvest between quantity and quality. Maceration in the cellar lasts for 35-45 days. After an initial decantation, the wine is left to refine in 1st and 2nd passage French oak barriques for 12 months. Subsequently, there is a short passage in steel before bottling. The evolution concludes with refinement in the bottle until reaching optimal maturity.
