Silver Heights Winery, located on the eastern slopes of the Helan Mountains in Ningxia, China, is a family-owned winery founded by Lin Gao and his daughter Emma Gao. Now run by Emma, a French-trained winemaker, and her husband Thierry Courtade, whom she met while studying oenology in Bordeaux, Silver Heights has earned a reputation for producing world-class wines.
The winery combines traditional French winemaking techniques with Ningxia's unique terroir. Its vineyards, situated at 1,200 meters above sea level, benefit from a dry climate, abundant sunlight, and mineral-rich soil, ideal for growing premium grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Previously certified organic, Silver Heights is now the first Demeter-certified biodynamic vineyard in China. Its flagship wine, "The Summit," exemplifies the winery’s commitment to quality and sustainability. Emma Gao’s philosophy of minimal intervention allows the natural characteristics of the grapes to shine, earning Silver Heights international recognition and solidifying its status as one of China's top wineries.
