Appearance: Deep mahogany-brown with bronze highlights.
Aroma: Rich citrus (bitter orange, lemon peel), Mediterranean herbs (rosemary, sage, juniper), vanilla, star anise, licorice, gentle floral undertones.
Palate: Silky and mouth-coating—bittersweet layers of citrus, dark cocoa, cola, gentian, caramel, pomegranate, cinnamon, and clove.
Finish: Long and vibrant—lingering liquorice, cola, gentle herbal bitterness, vanilla, and spice.
How It Was Made:
Since 1868, Averna has been produced using a secret blend of Mediterranean herbs, roots, spices, citrus peels (bitter orange, lemon), pomegranate, and other botanicals macerated in alcohol. After extraction, it’s sweetened, diluted, caramel-colored, and matured ~45 days before bottling—all still done in Sicily
